BCG Zurich opened more than a decade ago to allow The Boston Consulting Group to better serve its many Swiss clients and to better respond to the region's growing recruitment market. As the economic center of Switzerland, Zurich is home to numerous national and international corporations, particularly in the fields of commercial banking, insurance, and financial services.

Zurich combines the advantages of a world-class city with the atmosphere and lifestyle of a smaller European community. It features many cultural attractions.

BCG AG (Switzerland)'s client roster includes leading companies in banking, insurance, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods and retail, industrial goods, health care, engineering, high technology, and telecommunications industries. BCG Zurich's staff provides them with an extensive array of services with a particular focus on strategy, organizational effectiveness and change, and IT strategy.

BCG AG (Switzerland) takes seriously a commitment to the world beyond the for-profit sector through pro bono projects. Consultants have worked with the World Health Organization's initiative and the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.

The staff is comprised of a highly diverse mix of nationalities and personalities. Law, history, medicine, theology, psychology, and political science are some of the varied educational backgrounds they bring. In addition to English, it is common to hear conversations not only in German, but also French and Italian. This variety contributes to an open and collaborative working environment

Social impact

Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship—The Boston Consulting Group evaluates social entrepreneur activities on behalf of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. Social entrepreneurs are founders of innovative companies or non-profit organizations that identify and apply practical solutions to social problems by combining innovation, resourcefulness, and opportunity. Social entrepreneurs emphasize maximizing social impact rather than profit.

BCG leads the selection process to identify the "Social Entrepreneur of the Year." The individual and his/her work is evaluated on criteria such as innovation, sustainability, direct social impact, reach, and scope.

As the "Social Entrepreneur of the Year," the winner of the competition receives national recognition for his/her efforts and is given access to key opinion leaders and press in the respective countries. The winner is also included in the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship's network of outstanding social entrepreneurs including the worldwide Social Entrepreneurs' Summit and the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
