The Boston office occupies a special place in BCG corporate history. Opened by the company's founder Bruce Henderson, it continues to be one of the company's intellectual cornerstones. Many of BCG's most influential ideas about business originated within the walls of this office, including the experience curve, the portfolio concept, time-based competition, and segment-of-one marketing.

Today, BCG Boston is still at the forefront of new thinking in the fields of health care, financial services, industrial goods, and consumer goods. The office was also the setting for much of the seminal thinking in Blown to Bits: How the New Economics of Information Transforms Strategy, a book that is required reading at Harvard Business School.

Located on the 30th and 31st floors of the Exchange Place building, BCG Boston overlooks the city's financial district, its scenic harbor, and the myriad of shopping and dining opportunities to be found in nearby Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market.

Because of its relatively large size, the clients and work of BCG Boston span virtually all of the firm's practice areas. BCG Boston serves companies in a wide variety of industries including consumer goods, financial services, health care, industrial goods, and technology and communications. Staff expertise is diverse; vice presidents have a depth of consulting experience that's an invaluable resource to newer colleagues. The office offers a weekly program called the Friday Feature Forum that convenes for a presentation and exchange of ideas by one of the members of a project team.

BCG Boston maintains a tradition of community involvement, providing significant pro bono assistance to leading institutions such as the Boston Public Library, the Museum of Fine Arts, WGBH—Boston's nationally recognized public broadcasting station—and the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City.

Outside the office, it is easy to find recreational and cultural offerings. Boston's professional sports teams and the loyalty they inspire are legendary. The city's symphony and Pops orchestra concerts are world-famous. Add this to a vibrant performing arts community and numerous four-star restaurants and it's easy to appreciate the area's immense international appeal.

BCG Boston is a partner of Childreach/PlanUSA, the international organization dedicated to child sponsorship and grant funding implementation in developing countries. BCG Boston has worked to develop strategic options for PlanUSA's growth, change implementation, and focus. Most recently, we explored strategies for joint fund-raising efforts for international disaster emergency relief, and how US-based NGOs (non-government organizations) should collaborate in order to improve current and future disaster relief fundraising efforts.
