BCG first settled its Bay Area office in Menlo Park, outside the heart of San Francisco. Shortly thereafter, though, the office moved into the city of San Francisco and is now located on the 24th and 25th floors of the Embarcadero Center with outstanding views of this picturesque city by the bay.

Its northern California location allows BCG San Francisco to serve a broad array of regional industries in the Bay Area and Pacific Northwest, including financial services, health care, high technology and retail. BCG San Francisco provides clients with a wide range of expertise in a growing number of these industries.

The city's proximity to Silicon Valley has influenced both the type of business the office has built and the way the office operates. BCG San Francisco is in the vanguard of much of today's business thinking, making for a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating atmosphere, supported by a relaxed and informal working environment.

Serving the community is also an important part of the BCG San Francisco mission. The team undertakes pro bono assignments every year that deal with important issues in both the public and private sectors, such as a recent project for the Golden Gate National Recreational Area.

BCG has a long–standing relationship with the March of Dimes, a large nonprofit fighting premature birth and birth defects. The San Francisco office helped develop a strategic plan to integrate California chapters for greater impact on state health policies, to boost fundraising in California by $20M in five years, and to significantly reduce premature births by redirecting effort to minority, low–income communities who have the greatest need.
