BCG Santiago opened in 2002 and represents the firm's most recent addition to our Latin American Southern Cone System, which also includes an office in Buenos Aires. The Santiago office is located in El Golf, a premier business district that is home to the corporate headquarters of an increasing number of companies as well as many excellent restaurants-and is just a short subway ride from the financial district downtown.
BCG's presence in Chile is not a recent phenomenon; we began to serve Chilean clients from our Buenos Aires office in 1998 and have continued to do so until the formal opening of our Santiago office late last year. Chile's demonstrated economic and political stability, together with the tremendous potential for growth unleashed by the recent free trade agreements with the U.S. and the EU, make it a very exciting market where BCG can add significant value.
BCG's experience in Chile includes formulating payments strategies for some of the largest banks in the country, conducting corporate development work for industrial companies, developing a market-penetration strategy for a telecom provider, and completing an extensive organizational transformation project for the largest copper company in the world. We have also undertaken internal projects that afford us a deeper understanding of the local market. One of these studies analyzed the experience of Chilean companies which had established operations abroad over the last decade.
Located at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, Santiago offers many recreational opportunities to both visitors and residents. The city is just one hour away from both world-class skiing and the Pacific Ocean.
Our staff is a mix of seasoned, U.S.-educated BCGers who have transferred from Buenos Aires and young associates hired from the best business universities in Chile. The atmosphere is dynamic, challenging, and entrepreneurial. To help establish BCG's presence in a brand new market, all the staff in Santiago are called upon to assume responsibilities beyond those typical for their tenure with the firm.
Every year, BCG Santiago recruits a number of associates and consultants. We look for candidates who have a record of strong academic performance as well as a work and extra curricular history that reflects high personal drive and motivation. Superior communication and analytical skills, along with the will to succeed, are also required.

On December 2002 we started a partnership with Endeavor with the objective to provide strategic guidance to its entrepreneurs. Since then, we have structured and delivered pro-bono consulting support to help more than fifteen entrepreneurs confront their most serious business challenges in topics such as organizational structure, market entry strategy, new business development, performance measurement and incentive compensation. According to Endeavor's Managing Director in Argentina, "Our work with BCG has been a pillar of our effort to help entrepreneurs fully realize their potential".
