Fadi Makki is a core member of Boston Consulting Group’s Behavioral Science Lab and the firm’s People & Organization practice. He is an expert in the use of insights from behavioral science to solve public policy and organizational challenges. Fadi joined the firm in February 2023, bringing over 25 years of experience pioneering applications of behavioral insights and “nudge” concepts in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region. He has conducted over 150 experiments in health, sustainability, inclusion, and human capital development; and has advised many governments and organizations worldwide on setting up behavioral sciences teams, developing strategies for integrating behavioral science approaches, and designing and evaluating behavioral experiments.
Fadi is founder of Nudge Lebanon one of the pioneering behavioral science units in the Global South, and co-chair of the WHO’s Technical Advisory Group on Behavioral Insights for Health.
Prior to joining BCG, Fadi headed the first behavioral insights and nudge unit in the Middle East, B4Development, at Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, where he led the integration of insights from behavioral science into various aspects of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and other sports events. He was part of a major strategy consulting firm in the Middle East advising senior government officials and private sector executives on strategy and organization restructuring. He also worked with many multilateral and development organizations, as well as financial institutions, and served as Director General both at the office of the prime minister, and at the Ministry of Economy and Trade in Lebanon where he was also chief negotiator for Lebanon’s accession to the WTO.
Fadi is the author of many peer-reviewed papers on behavioral science applications to mental health, education, social cohesion, and COVID compliance and vaccine uptake, and is a regular contributor to the Harvard Business Review Arabia.
