Rajat Modwel is a core member of the Public Sector and Strategy practices at Boston Consulting Group. He joined BCG in 2018, after 29 years in the fields of government and management consulting.

At BCG, Rajat focuses on the public sector and social impact areas, using his expertise in urban issues, transportation, WaSH (water, sanitation and hygiene), education, skills, health, energy, economic development, agriculture, tourism, finance, and governance.

Before joining BCG, Rajat was the CEO of Research Triangle Institute in India where he built practices in health, energy, and WaSH engaging mostly with government, multilaterals, and foundations. Before that, he was a senior vice president with McKinsey & Company where he developed their Center for Government and Public Enterprises and helped build their public sector practice.

Prior to his experience in public sector consulting, Rajat led an organizational effectiveness practice and steered projects with multinational corporations and family-owned businesses in cement, automotive, financial services, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and steel. He started his career in the Indian Administrative Service, working in local self-government, development, and finance. His wide experience across the public and private sectors has continually nurtured his interest in growth strategy, organizational transformation, and national impact.
