Roman Friedrich is the ESG lead for Boston Consulting Group's Technology, Media & Telecommunications practice in Europe, the Middle East, and South America. He is the co-lead for the firm's global digital infrastructure initiative, and is responsible for BCG's Telco Sustainability Index product and Fiber in a Box methodology, which enables telcos and investors to deploy fiber quickly and efficiently.
Although he has worked across the entire telecommunications value chain, Roman's current areas of focus are helping telco clients become more sustainable, supporting digital infrastructure deals (fiber, data center), and optimizing performance of digital infrastructure companies. He has worked with telco operators around the world with a strong focus on Germany, the Nordics, Russia, the UK, and Turkey.
Past areas of focus have been digital transformation and growth challenges in B2C and B2B. Roman was a scholar at the German Merit Foundation for eight years. Today he is a frequent speaker at telco and digital conferences and publishes white papers on a regular basis. Before joining BCG, he was a scientific researcher at the University of Tübingen/Institute for Theoretical Physics, a Partner at Booz Allen Hamilton (Booz & Company/Strategy&), and a Managing Director at AlixPartners.
