Tim Chapman is a leading member of Boston Consulting Group's Travel, Cities & Infrastructure (TCI) practice. He joined BCG in September 2023, bringing almost four decades of experience as an acknowledged expert on the delivery of large infrastructure projects, and a reputation for ensuring that large complex capital projects achieve their mission and goals.

Tim is an expert engineer, qualified as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and of the Institution of Civil Engineers, as well as an expert civil engineering infrastructure designer, most recently lauded by the Royal Academy of Engineering as one of a very small number of “infrastructure icons” in their publicity for World Engineering Day in November 2023.

Tim was also an advisor to the UK government on its new techniques for managing large infrastructure projects, an author of its Value Toolkit, and a contributor to its Construction Playbook. He has worked on many large energy projects. Tim is adept at combining many forms of sustainability using an outcome-based approach, especially carbon, social value, biodiversity, and resilience, as well as in the circular economy.

Tim is focused on how to deliver new infrastructure systems more efficiently--on time and on budget—with a strong focus on outcomes and benefits, including how they serve communities. After a career of designing major infrastructure, including risk mitigation, he has now been employed by BCG to help infrastructure owners avoid the many pitfalls in the delivery of large capital projects.

Immediately before joining BCG, Tim was Director at Arup, running the London office. He led Arup's infrastructure design group for ten years.
