In their featured article for MIT Sloan Management Review, BCG’s Martin Reeves, Kevin Whitaker, and Tom Deegan discuss strategies that companies can implement to maintain market leadership. Recent research by the BCG Henderson Institute found that as companies struggle to adapt to the new logic of business competition it is far more difficult now than in the past to continuously outperform the sector average. The authors address four key challenges that companies must overcome in order to achieve continuous growth: resetting mental models, adopting new business metrics, embracing a multidimensional approach to strategy, and reinventing organizational capabilities.
