Luis Ponce de León is a core member of Boston Consulting Group’s Consumer practice, and he focuses his work primarily on the travel and tourism sector.

Since joining BCG in 2007, Luis has worked with major global airlines and other travel-related clients on a range of commercial, operational, and strategy issues, delivering tangible and measured top- and bottom-line results. On the operations side, Luis has helped airlines in revising the cost base and key company processes to identify and achieve sustainable cost savings, efficiency gains, and punctuality performance improvements. On the commercial side, Luis has led several engagements in revenue management and network optimization. Additionally, Luis has also experience in strategy topics, such as the definition of strategic plans and supporting in delivering strategic transformation programs.

Luis’s work has also covered several corporate development opportunities in the travel sector. His experience includes supporting two merging European airlines in defining their business plan, and advising buyers in various acquisition opportunities in the airline industry.

In addition, in the lodging space, Luis has supported regional and global clients on several topics including strategic audits and business portfolio recommendations.

Prior to joining BCG, Luis worked as an engineer for Rolls-Royce in the United Kingdom, where he was involved in program management, production, and service engineering.
