Karthik Subramanya is a Senior Advisor and Executive Coach with Boston Consulting Group. He brings ten years’ experience in the power and gas utility industry to his role at BCG. He is part of the firm’s Energy practice, and advises clients on strategy, M&A, and transformation in energy services, energy retail, B2B, and renewables.

Karthik has held several senior executive positions in the power and gas utility industry, most recently at SSE, the UK's second largest utility, where he was COO and the number two in the Enterprise Division, serving industrial and commercial customers. He built up the Enterprise Division, delivering growth of 25% in 18 months.

Karthik coaches executives in a wide variety of industries including banking, asset management, energy, and the public sector. He holds a number of non-executive director roles, including board member of Scottish Enterprise, Scotland’s Economic Development agency, and Creative Scotland, Scotland’s funding body for the arts and film industries. He is a panel member and decision maker at the Competition and Market Authority UK, which adjudicates on mergers, competition, and consumer issues and is the super regulator in UK markets.

Karthik is currently building a new venture in offshore wind energy. Prior to focusing on energy and utilities, he was with HBOS/Lloyds Banking Group for six years where he was Director of Group Strategy and M&A and held leadership roles in private equity and corporate banking. Before banking, he spent six years as a management consultant advising financial institutions on strategy, operations, and technology.
