BCG X and UM6P Strengthen Alliance with Enhanced Partnership to Cultivate African Tech Talent

PARIS—BCG X, the tech build and design unit of Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P), a Moroccan university oriented toward applied research, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to join forces in developing technology talent in response to growing regional and global business challenges.

This partnership affirms the common vision of UM6P and BCG to address the most complex and pressing global challenges—including food security, climate and sustainability, nature positivity, education, global health, and socioeconomic development—by investing in people, innovation, and technology.

The MoU encompasses scholarships, internships, and immersion opportunities for UM6P students and doctoral candidates, as well as a series of continuous activities to stimulate recruitment at BCG X. The collaboration originated in 2017 with BCG’s recruitment of UM6P graduates from the inaugural class of EMINES School of Industrial Management and then continued with a partnership with the coding school, 1337, the first school to provide IT training in Morocco, and which constitutes a significant source of talent for BCG's Casablanca office.

UM6P and BCG are building their partnership on a foundation of shared values and a joint commitment to fostering educational excellence, driving innovation, and creating meaningful career pathways in the burgeoning technology sector.

This partnership underscores a mutual dedication to not only recruiting top talent but also providing students with internships and opportunities to work on collaborative projects that align with global challenges. This hands-on approach ensures that UM6P students gain invaluable experience, positioning them to become the problem-solvers and innovators of tomorrow, while at the same time, enhancing BCG X's on-campus presence with a dedicated workspace, allowing the firm to host a series of events designed to foster awareness and stimulate recruitment.

“Africa is quickly becoming a major hub for tech talents at BCG and beyond,” said Sylvain Duranton, global leader of BCG X. “There is an opportunity for this continent to be at the center of the tech ecosystem and I’m extremely proud that BCG X is partnering with Université Mohammed VI Polytechnic to help develop the next generation of business technologists. It’s a great honor for us to embark on this exciting journey with them to develop the next generation of tech leaders.”

“We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Boston Consulting Group, intending to prepare future technological talent to meet the growing challenges of regional and worldwide companies. Our combined efforts will pave the way for a new generation of tech leaders from Africa, ready to tackle global issues with innovative thinking and cutting-edge solutions. This reflects UM6P's vision of promoting excellence, applied research, and innovation to serve Morocco and Africa,” stated Hicham El Habti, President of UM6P.

“BCG is dedicated to nurturing Morocco’s growing prominence in the technology sector,” said Hamid Maher, head of BCG’s Casablanca office and the firm’s tech hub in Africa. “Our renewed collaboration with UM6P will not only strengthen our talent pipeline, but also enhance our ability to tackle the world’s most important challenges and opportunities with our clients.”

UM6P and BCG X are committed to this long-term vision, which is set to unfold through continued collaboration, shared expertise, and a passion for technology's role in shaping the future. This occasion marks an important turning point in helping African youth tackle the continent's challenges, particularly in domains crucial to the future of Morocco and Africa.
