Seed of the Future: Brazil’s Agriculture Fostering Climate Transition
Brazilian agribusiness plays a relevant role in the global economy, feeding 10% of the world's population through exports. However, it is also responsible for large greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and contributes to the challenge of deforestation. Seeking sustainable solutions is crucial to minimize environmental impact.
This BCG study explores how agribusiness can expand its productivity and become a driver of the climate agenda. Priority levers will be detailed, such as sustainable agriculture, bioenergy, carbon credit and nature-based solutions, as well as presenting business opportunities involving significant investments. Key facilitators of these opportunities will also be addressed, such as the regulatory environment, financing, and value chain engagement. The objective is to position agribusiness as a protagonist in the contributions to climate change and to promote sustainable economic development.
