University of Chicago Charter School needed help to achieve an ambitious goal—ensuring that 100% of its students were accepted to and graduated from college. The school tapped BCG to devise a five-year strategic plan to ensure that the college goals were met.
BCG engaged in a long-term collaboration with University of Chicago Charter School to develop a detailed five-year strategic plan. The plan established high aspirations to make the charter school a top-tier school, aligned curricula and instruction across campuses, and engaged families to get them more involved in their children’s education.
To guide decision making and help attract and retain quality teachers, the team also created a public scorecard and a dashboard tied to the strategic framework.
For five years in a row, 100% of graduating seniors from University of Chicago Charter School have been accepted to college. When ranked by college-enrollment rate, the charter school ranks second among all high schools in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. Both the campus scorecards and dashboards are used extensively by University of Chicago Charter School. The campus scorecard results are publicly available and demonstrate a clear pattern of consistent growth.
University of Chicago Charter School is operated by the university’s Urban Education Institute. Enrolling students in pre-K to 12th grade, the school cultivates critical thinkers and successful leaders in college and in life. The school engaged BCG’s long-term assistance to craft a five-year strategic plan that has helped achieve college-acceptance rates of 100% for five consecutive years.
