BCG Africa Strengthens Telco Capabilities with New Partner Appointment in Johannesburg

JOHANNESBURG—Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global leader in management consulting, with deep expertise and experience in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) industries has appointed Mamello Selamolela as partner to join its team in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Selamolela joins BCG from Vodacom Group, where she managed the Group’s strategy and innovation in Africa and led several large-scale transformation initiatives across the continent.

The growth opportunities that exist across the TMT space in Africa are diverse, “This role provides me with the ability to combine my practical understanding of the industry, and the unique challenges faced on the continent, with my management consulting background when engaging with our clients. With my experience in different roles within the telco industry, I have full appreciation and empathy for our clients, the challenges they face and the new opportunities they are looking to seize,” says Selamolela.

An experienced senior executive with a demonstrated history in the telecommunications industry and management consulting space, Selamolela has previously worked at MTN and McKinsey & Company in London and Johannesburg.

With more than 15 years of telco and consulting experience, Selamolela is a strong business development professional with deep expertise in digital strategy and transformation, business strategy, commercial and operations management, innovation and multi-industry strategy consulting. She serves as the chair of the Industry Advisory Panel on digital transformation for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), working with the Nextgen Enterprises and Institutions cluster to shape digital technology research and industrial application. Selamolela holds Honours and Master’s degrees from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from London Business School.
