The 2012 Consumer Value Creators Report: Creating Superior Value in Challenging Times, examines the total shareholder return (TSR)1 1 For a discussion of how we define total shareholder return, including its key drivers, see “The Components of TSR” section of the Appendix. of more than 200 major consumer companies for the period 2007 through 2011. The report covers four sectors in the consumer industry—fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), consumer durables and apparel, retail, and travel and tourism. The analysis is based on empirical data from The Boston Consulting Group’s fourteenth annual report in the Value Creators series, Improving the Odds: Strategies for Superior Value Creation (September 2012), which is a broader review of 1,003 companies across 21 industry sectors.
