The report "Mobilizing Capital to Scale Responsible Expansion of Crop & Livestock in Brazil" developed in partnership between Boston Consulting Group (BCG), WWF, and The Nature Conservancy (TNC), highlights that Brazil has over 100 million hectares of degraded pastures that can be restored to increase agricultural and livestock production by 2040 without deforestation. The recovery of these areas could boost productivity and generate socio-environmental benefits, reducing pressure on native vegetation. However, there is a significant financing gap to restore 40 million hectares, estimated at $120 billion. Our immediate call is to mobilize $2 billion in catalytic capital to develop innovative financing mechanisms, complementing the Low-Carbon Agriculture Plan. The creation of a robust governance framework and supportive public policies is essential to combine financial returns with social and environmental sustainability. Brazil's role is crucial not only in ensuring global food security but also in leading the transition to sustainable agriculture worldwide.
